Gram Flour (Besan)- 1 cup
Whole wheat flour- 1/4 cup
Coriander, fine chopped- 2 tbsp
Dry fenugreek leaves (kasoori mathi)- 2 tbsp
Red chili powder- 1 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
Salt- to taste
Asafetida (Heeng)- 1 pinch
Whole dry coriander- 1 tbsp (Roasted and chopped)
Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp (Roasted and chopped)
Whole dry red chilli- 4 (Roasted and chopped)
Carom seeds (ajwan)- a pinch (Roasted and chopped)
Butter (ghee)- 1/2 cup


  1. In a suitable bowl, Mix: Gram flour, whole wheat flour, coriander, dry fenugreek leaves, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, asafetida, whole dry coriander, cumin seeds, whole dry red chilli, carom seeds (whole ingredients except of butter/ghee).
  2. Add in little by little water in order to create a soft dough. Cover with moist cloth and set aside for half hour.
  3. Divide the dough into desired sizes, make round balls, and roll them out into a round shape roti’s.
  4. Place the roti into a hot pan (tawa), when the roti is golden brown from both the sides place into serving plate.
  5. Garnish with butter/ghee, and Serve with Mango chutney (or any of your fav chutney).


TIP: Besan roti dry’s quickly, thus immediately place the besan roti’s in a hot pot, or foil.
