Batura- Puffed Bread-Recipe


Dry yeast- ¼ tsp

All purpose flour maida- 4 cups

Oil- 2 tbsp

Fruit salt- 1 tsp

Baking soda- ¾

Semolina (sooji rava)- ¼ cup

Sugar – 1 tsp

Yougourt (sour) – 2 tbsp

Water or milk 2 cup-

Oil or ghee – for frying


  1. In a suitable pan mix all dry ingridents add: maida, semolina, baking soda salt and sugar.
  2. Add yogurt and little water until a soft smooth dough arises. 
  3. Cover with wet napkin at least 2 hours in hot place (in the oven)
  4. In a deep fry pan heat the oil
  5. Meanwhile divide the dough into equal portion roll them in to oval shape
  6. Now drop them gently into hot oil. Pour Oil on top side of Bhatura and press Bhatura this will make Bhatura puff.
  7. Fry until it gets golden brown on both sides and take it out on napkin plate.
  8. Serve with Cholay or your favorite Salan (or Aloo Salan).
