How to make Sushi at Home
Delicious Homemade Sushi: Sushi is undoubtedly one of a kind dish. It can be served as an appetizer, welcome snack and or as a main course. Sushi is totally loved by everyone: from kids to adults. It may seem difficult to make, since many people get confused on how to roll the Sushi, and or how to get the nori sheet around the rice. But believe me, it is simple and easy. Not till you try it you won’t know how simple making Sushi really is.
What I love about Homemade Sushi is that you are welcome to add in what ever vegetables and or meat you want! Make it what ever size you want! I know how it feels digging into your Sushi plate. Its like Heaven; yet when you have only one Sushi left! That awful feeling! I hate it! That’s why I love making Sushi at Home. Since I really do have full control, on how much should I make and what really should I add.
What I added to this yum Sushi was really all the basics that you NEED in your Fabulous Sushi. This Sushi Post is in general dedicated to all the individuals that love Sushi but have never made it at home. So the very basic ingredients for your Sushi are: Sushi Rice, Avocado, Crab Sticks, Cucumber, Carrot, Nori Sheets, Sesame Roasted Seeds, Poppy Seeds, and Soya Sauce to give it a delicious taste. I don’t know about you but my mouth is watering up!
You are most Welcome to play around with the ingredients! If you are not such a big fan of Crab Sticks, than you can remove it and add in any other alternative. Also don’t fuss over if you cannot find Sesame Roasted Seeds or Poppy Seeds; I really used them or the extra yum yum taste and of-course for decoration purposes. Hmm, the rest ingredients seem pretty reasonable for a fabulous Sushi.
- Sushi Rice- 1 cup
- Avocado Slices- 1 (squeeze lemon juice to prevent browning)
- Crab Sticks- 4
- Cucumber Thin Strips- 1
- Carrot Thin Strips- 1
- Nori Sheets- 4
- Sesame Roasted Seeds- (For Garnishing)
- Poppy Seeds- (For Garnishing)
- Soya Sauce- (For Garnishing)
- Wrap Bamboo mat with plastic wrap (inorder to prevent rice from sticking on to bamboo). Place the nori sheet on the mat.
- Grab prepared sushi rice and place it all over the nori sheet (gently press down). Sprinkle poppy seeds and sesame seeds on the rice, and flip over (so now the nori is on top).
- Place avocado, crab, cucmber, and carrots towards the end of nori. (I have also added Red Bell Peppers as well (for color)).
- Now roll the sushi firmly with the help of the mat (for shape); while pulling back the mat.
- Cut the sushi into equal sizes . Dish-OUT… and ENJOY!!!
This post to me is very special. I have a personal connection with it. Lol. This is because my beautiful older sister was helping me from start to end. She really explained me the process of how to roll the Sushi using a bamboo mat. And how firstly you have to spread out the Sushi Rice on Nori Sheet, gently press down and flip; so that you could add all the other ingredients on the Nori Sheet (and roll).
